On Tuesday, September 27, 2005, Ithaca College will host some 130 graduate and professional school representatives for our biggest graduate and professional school fair ever! The event will be held in Emerson Suites and will run from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Ithaca College students of any graduating year are welcome to attend and interact with some 130 graduate and professional school representatives from across the nation and from a diverse array of studies. “We are proud to present to the Ithaca College community a graduate and professional school fair that is diverse, representing many different schools and programs. Students will have the opportunity to speak with recruiters about their school, degree program, and the admission process. If you are thinking about earning an advanced degree, the graduate and professional fair is the place to be September 27th," says Robert Earl, assistant director for career development in the Office of Career Services.
Schools such as Boston University College of Communications, Georgetown University, New York Chiropractic College, Harvard School of Public Health, University of Miami School of Law, and Syracuse University School of Education will be in attendance, along with many others. This fair presents an outstanding opportunity for students to learn more about graduate schools in their desired disciplines. Representatives will be on hand to answer students’ questions and offer advice on applying to graduate schools.
Graduate school offers students the chance to specialize in a field of study more thoroughly than in an undergraduate program. According to recent surveys, Americans with a graduate degree earn an average of 35 to 50 percent more than those with just a bachelor's degree. By attending grad school, students have the opportunity to become experts in their field and study specific aspects of a discipline that interest them.
Immediately following the fair, students will have the opportunity to learn more about law school and medical school. A law school panel and medical school panel will each be staffed with admission representatives who will discuss the process of applying to graduate schools in their respective disciplines. The law panel will be held in Clark Lounge and the medical school panel will meet in Klingenstein Lounge, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This event is co-sponsored by the Pre-Med Society and the Pre-Law Society.
