The King's Singers -- "unmatched for their musicality and sheer ability to entertain," according to the Times of London -- will perform at Ithaca College on Monday, October 24. In demonstrating their all-encompassing a cappella repertoire, the King's Singers will perform a program that includes music from the French Renaissance, works by Grammy Award-winning composer Libby Larson, and some of the group's signature close-harmony stylings.

Started in 1968 by six choral scholars from King's College at Cambridge University, the King's Singers quickly became a prominent musical force in the United Kingdom. The rest of the world also became captivated by the ensemble's charm, wit, and incomparable musicianship, and today the group plays to audiences all over the globe.

From medieval to Renaissance, romantic to contemporary, folk to pop, sacred to secular, the King's Singers' repertoire features music spanning the last eight centuries. The venues where the group has performed are equally diverse, including European cathedrals, American churches, the Hollywood Bowl, Shea Stadium, and Windsor Castle.

Since their debut concert, the King's Singers have commissioned works from such distinguished composers as Berio, Davies, and Rorem, and this branch of their repertoire comprises well over 200 pieces. In addition to collaborations with orchestras -- including the Cincinnati Pops, with whom they have released an album featuring arrangements of Beatles songs -- the King's Singers have joined forces with such renowned solo musicians as Kiri te Kanawa, Dudley Moore, Emanuel Ax, and Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys.
