Patricia R. Zimmermann has been named Consultant for International Documentary for The Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico. Zimmermann is a professor in the Department of Cinema and Photography and coordinator of the Culture and Communication Program in the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies.

The Morelia International Film Festival is one of the premiere film festivals in Latin America, showcasing Mexican features, documentaries, and experimental films as well as international cinemas from Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

At this year’s festival, which ran from October 8-16, Zimmermann participated in panel discussions on indigenous and political documentary movements in Mexico and presented workshops on contemporary international documentary theory and practice. Throughout the year, she will be working to develop initiatives on international documentary for future programs.
