Career Services is pleased to announce that Ms. Betsy Hohenstein an Environmental Analyst, for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will be visiting the Ithaca College Campus as an Employer In Residence.

Ms. Hohenstein will be available in the Career Services office to meet with students on a drop-in basis to discuss DEC opportunities and to provide information about the upcoming Civil Service Environmental Analyst exam.

Date: Thursday, November 10, 2005
Time: 12:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Location: Career Services, Gannett Center

"Candidates for Environmental Analyst positions are selected from a Civil Service list. The Civil Service exam(s) for the Environmental Analyst (EA) Trainee and EA1 are scheduled for January 7, 2005.

The exam will be open to students who will have at least a 4 year degree by June 2006 in one of the following areas of study:

  • land use planning
  • environmental studies
  • environmental science
  • environmental planning
  • archaeology
  • civil engineering
  • natural science
  • environmental engineering
  • physical science
  • geological engineering

To be eligible for appointment, you must take and pass the Civil Service exam for Environmental Analyst title, which is only given every 4-5 years. Vacant positions are filled using a Civil Service "eligible list", showing the results of the exam. The Environmental Analyst Exam Date is January 7, 2006. Applications will be accepted by Civil Service from October 21, 2005 thru December 5, 2005."
