Sean Eversley-Bradwell, assistant professor in the Center for the Study of Culture, Race and Ethnicity will present “Kanye, Katrina & Color” at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, at the History Center at 401 East State Street in Ithaca. This talk will be the final forum in the History Center’s "Understanding Katrina" series in which local voices examine the context of the Katrina disaster.
Eversley-Bradwell will help the audience grapple with the issues of race and class within a historical, political, social, and economic context to better understand perceptions of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. As his starting point, Eversley-Bradwell will use the emotionally charged and controversial comments made by Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist Kanye West during an NBC-televised benefit concert for Katrina victims.
