Ithaca College will host Fulbright Visiting Specialist Mohammed Zin Nordin January 12 to February 8, 2006, as a participant in "Direct Access to the Muslim World," a special Fulbright initiative designed to expand understanding of Islamic societies and cultures.

Currently Professor Nordin is an associate professor and dean of the School of Communication at Universiti Sains Malaysia, in Penang, Malaysia. He has had a wide range of professional experience in the media and has published widely on environmental issues and energy awareness in Malaysia.

At Ithaca College, Professor Nordin will teach a mini-course on the role of the Malaysian media industry and how it operates within a multi-ethnic and multi-religious population that has been victimized by terrorism in the past. He also will be available to guest lecture in other classes about the practices of Islam in Southeast Asia.
