The family of Trevor Jahn, our student who died tragically in an automobile accident over the Thanksgiving break, asked that the following be sent to the Ithaca College community.
The first message is from Trevor’s father, Robert H. Jahn. The second message is from his brother, Tyler Jahn, who is a sophomore at the College. It was the eulogy delivered by Tyler at the memorial service held in Trevor’s hometown of Warwick, New York.
As a reminder, the on-campus memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 11, at 3:00 p.m. in Muller Chapel.

Dear Friends,
It is with a sadness I cannot describe, that I extend a heartfelt message of gratitude for your thoughts, prayers, letters and condolences to my family, at this time of inexplicable grief.
I welcome all of you, whether you witnessed his life and growth into manhood, or simply have a sense of his tremendous attributes from your association with my family and the IC community family, to visit the website www.purtafuneralhome.com, click on obituaries and scroll to Trevor William Jahn.
Trevor was everything and more that a mother and father could ever dream for a child. He was the best of both our worlds. The messages you will see on the website are but a cross-section of his life expressed by many who had the privilege and good fortune to share their lives with him.
He was a “good boy” (my words), and the most loving, compassionate, caring and highly motivated “gentle leader” (our pastor’s words) I have ever known. His accomplishments in 21 years far more exceed his obituary. However, our family has aspirations to spearhead the Trevor William Jahn Memorial Fund to honor and epitomize his life by significantly touching young people in our local Warwick High School community and athletics, as well as young men and women who share his dream of serving his great country through collegian ROTC programs.
Diabetes is an area he was well versed in (his mother and favorite uncle), as well as Parkinson’s, which his other favorite uncle (50 yrs. old) currently battles in its advanced stages.
He was a hands-on individual, so we intend to create programs directly with people in need on the local level rather than wasting resources on “corporate operating expenses.” Trevor just detested waste and mismanagement.
Donations: Make payable to Trevor William Jahn Memorial Fund, c/o Warwick Methodist Church, 135 Forrester Avenue, Warwick, NY 10990. I pledge to you that your well intended donations will hit their mark and be made known to you over time. We shall share the fruits of his labors of love on earth in this life and rejoice in the knowing that we all will join Trevor someday in the peace and joy of our heavenly life hereafter. God bless.
Robert H. Jahn, Jr. and Family
The Lord works in mysterious ways. I know at this time we are all searching for answers, and I can help you with that: STOP! There are no answers for why this happened. If any of you are like me you’re wondering, “What are we supposed to do now?”… “How are we supposed to move on without Trev?” Well here’s what we’re going to do… Live our lives as Trev lived his, and how he wants us to keep living ours. He was the hardest working, most unselfish, team player, and the ultimate leader. If he set a goal, he followed through and met it. He was always looking to move up in the world and so I think of this as a sort of promotion. Obviously the “Big Boss Man” needed the leadership, courage, and knowledge that Trev possessed to help him up there.
So go forth and do your best at whatever it is that you may do, because all Trev ever wanted out of people was for them to give their best effort. DON’T EVER forget, and DON’T YOU DARE let anyone else forget, what an amazing friend, brother, son, and overall human being Trevor was. From this day forth think of Trev every day, not in sadness, but as inspiration. As you encounter difficult times ask yourself what Trev would’ve done, and then ask him yourself what to do. Because he’s all around us, helping each and every one of us, just as he always did. Everyone here today has a special connection with Trev and we all need to know how extremely fortunate we are to have had him in our lives. We’ll miss you Trev, I love you BRO!
Tyler Jahn
