Mr. Richard Pound, International Olympic Committee Member, To Visit Campus April 4-5, 2006Contributed by Ellen Staurowsky on 01/21/06 Mr. Richard Pound, chancellor of McGill University, member of the International Olympic Committee, and one of the top 100 most influential people in the world according to Time magazine, will visit Ithaca College on April 4 and 5, 2006. He will deliver an all-campus lecture open to the community at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 102 on April 4. A noted attorney in the firm of Stikeman Elliott, referred to as Canada’s global law firm, Mr. Pound is a member of both the Quebec and Ontario Bars. He is also a member of the Federal Court bench. Currently, he also serves as Honorary Consul General of Norway in Montreal. Mr. Pound was awarded a doctor of sports administration (honoris causa) from the Laurentian University in 2005, a doctor of laws (honoris causa) from the University of Western Ontario in June 2004, a doctor of laws (honoris causa) by the University of Windsor in 1997, and an honorary Ph.D. by the United States Sports Academy in 1989. In September 2004, he was appointed a Chubb Fellow of Timothy Dwight College: Yale University. He graduated from McGill University (B.C.L. 1967); McGill University (Licentiate in Accounting 1964); Sir George Williams (now Concordia) University (B.A. 1963); and from McGill University (B.Comm. 1962). Mr. Pound's visit is being hosted by the Department of Sport Management and Media in conjunction with the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance and the Office of the President.
