Student Government sponsors trip to Albany for Independent Sector Student Lobby Day!

Albany - Tuesday, February 14, 2006, students from across New York State will travel to the New York State Capitol and Legislative Office Building in Albany to lobby their representatives in regards to recent legislative cuts to student financial aid and TAP awards. There, students will have appointments with legislators that represent their district to encourage their representatives to say think more critically on their positions in regards to cuts on student aid. This is an amazing opportunity not only for SGA representatives, but for students-at-large to meet representatives and discuss topics that affect all students: aid cuts or New York State creating a new definition regarding what designates a full-time student (for financial aid consideration), etc.

The Independent Sector Student Lobby day will be a historic one for all students in New York State and SGA encourages all students to take advantage of this opportunity to foster stronger leadership and learn more about what it takes to be a dedicated and active citizen. For more information on how to get involved, please contact Daniel McCarey at Dmccare1@ithaca.edu.
