David Turkon of the Anthropoology Department has been asked to serve as Senior Advisor on the Board of Directors for the Sudanese Lost Boys Foundation of New York (SLBFNY).

Since coming to Ithaca College from Phoenix this past June, David has gotten involved with the SLBFNY and helped to get efforts moving toward establishing an African refugee center in Syracuse and promoting fundraising. David gained considerable experience in community building and applied anthropology while working with Lost Boys refugees in Arizona, and continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the AZ Lost Boys Center (AZLBC). He is the lead person on a project that brought 18,000 social histories, collected in refugee camps in Ethioopia, to the U.S. for archiving and dissemination through AZLBC.
