I cannot emphasize enough what a terrific program this is! By following the program and participating in the discussions, I was able to reduce my blood pressure medicine by 1/2, and have much more energy! The fact that my weight has also gone down is a terrific bonus. Thank you, HR, for making it so much easier for us to participate by offering payroll deduction! If anyone out there is on the fence & would like to talk with a participant, please feel free to contact me!

My weight reached an all-time high after the birth of my two children. Just before my first was born, we moved into a ranch on West Hill with a walkout basement. I hated going down those stairs, especially lugging a laundry basket, for any reason because I knew that I would have to climb back up—and I would be breathless after doing so. It’s only one flight! I remember longing for a home with the laundry room on the first floor.
I have participated in the Weight Watcher at Work meetings here at IC since they began in May 2000. Since that time I have managed to drop 50 pounds and pretty much keep it off. Now I don’t mind climbing up and down those stairs; I actually enjoy it. As a matter of fact, I take the stairs whenever possible as opposed to an elevator. Weight Watchers taught me how to make the right choices. I also developed strategies for dealing with situations like eating out, facing a buffet table and squeezing in more physical activity. The most important thing I learned, however, is that in order to succeed I need to have the correct mindset. I’m doing this for the rest of my life, which is now. Sure, I still look forward to special events in my life and hope that I can reach a certain goal by then. But life goes on after the event is over, so I do my best to look beyond it. I still have a ways to go before I reach my goal. Some days are harder than others. Going to At-Work meetings every week keeps me on track. I know that I will make it – I’ve come this far! I just want people to know that this program really works. I started it two years ago - I was almost 17 - and it has helped me lose the weight I've been trying to lose. The best part is that I still eat normal food - the only change is that I'm eating within a point system. I don't have to worry about other people knowing that I'm dieting. Plus, this program is fun and everyone at the meetings is in it together. It's worth the money - believe me!
