On Monday, April 17, Mark Hertsgaard, author of “Earth Odyssey,” will kick off the series of EarthWeek observances and campus activities at Ithaca College. Hertsgaard will present “Three Feet of Water: Global Warming and How to Beat it” at 8:00 p.m. in the Emerson Suites in the Campus Center.
Hertsgaard will also be the featured speaker for a Sustainability Café on Monday, April 17, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room on the 1st floor in the Campus Center. Bring a brown bag lunch and enjoy "teachable edible" snacks while partaking in "A Conversation with Mark Hertsgaard."
Hertsgaard is a San Francisco-based independent journalist and author. He currently writes as the environment correspondent for The Nation, and is the political correspondent for US satellite broadcaster, LinkTV. His most recent book is The Eagle's Shadow: Why America Fascinates and Infuriates the World.

Hertsgaard has regularly contributed radio programming for National Public Radio (NPR). This includes political commentator for Living on Earth (to 2003) and more recently environment commentaries for Marketplace, the US's most-listened to business radio programming.
Hertsgaard has lectured at Harvard, Yale, and Stanford and taught non-fiction writing at Johns Hopkins and the University of California at Berkeley School of Journalism.
