In continuing with the standard of excellence established by the Ithaca College Athletic Training Education Program, we are pleased to announce that three of our student majors have won highly competitive state, regional and national scholarship competitions! Senior Athletic Training major Kelly McAree has won the 2005-06 $1,000 NYSATA undergraduate scholarship from the New York State Athletic Training Society for her outstanding academic performances, and professional aptitude.
Senior Athletic Training major Sarah Piebes was the 2005-06 recipient of the Hartmann-Conco Sports Medicine Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association Scholarship Award. The Scholarship Award for $2,000, along with a plaque was presented to Sarah.
Both Kelly and Sarah recieved their awards at the Annual Awards Banquet for the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Meeting & Convention, in Philadelphia this past January.
Junior Athletic Training major Marcia Kafchinski was recently awarded a Pinky M. Newell Memorial Scholarship for $2,000 from the NATA Research & Education Foundation for her outstanding academic, personal and professional accomplishments.
These award are highly competitive and are based on academic, clinical and professional abilities and accomplishements during undergraduate studies as athletic training majors here in the Department of Exercise & Sport Sciences. The awards can be used by winners to help defray the costs of either their undergraduate, or graduate education.
