Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival Receives Two Grants

The Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF) has received two grants for festival development from the Experimental Television Center and the New York State Council on the Arts.

The first grant for professional development was awarded to send one festival staffer to the 53rd Robert Flaherty International Film Seminar. Dale Hudson, formerly of the Department of Cinema and Photography, attended the seminar as a FLEFF curator. Hudson, currently an assistant professor at Amherst College, has been named curator of the 2007 FLEFF international on-line net.art exhibition. He will collaborate on the curatorial work in this exhibition with Sharon Lin Tay of Middlesex University, London, England.

The second grant was awarded for festival development to bring in a consultant from a major film festival to assist in both on campus and regional audience development as well as national/international positioning of the festival. Richard Herskowitz from the Virginia Film Festival will serve as the FLEFF consultant under this grant.

The 2007 Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival is slated for March 26-April 2, 2007.
