As a part of the Student Leadership Institute, Mary Joseph Tomaselli presents “Using Your Emotional Intelligence” on Tuesday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. in Clark Lounge.
There was a time when IQ was considered the leading determinant of success. In recent decades, brain and behavioral research has led to a shift in our concept of what it means to “be smart.” Popularized by author Daniel Goleman, he argues that our IQ-idolizing view of intelligence is far too narrow. Instead, Goleman makes the case for "emotional intelligence" in which how we handle ourselves and our relationships can determine life success more than IQ. This session earns credit for the “Leading Self” Certificate.
