The Accounts Payable and Travel Service Office recently announced that the College is transitioning to a single credit card program. This program will combine the services currently provided through the Visa Purchasing and Business cards into one Visa credit card.

Current cardholders have received, or will receive shortly, a mailing from Tompkins Trust Company and Elan Financial Services. Please disregard the mailing which includes: Important changes to your Tompkins Credit Card Account; Notice of change in terms to your business credit card account – Effective Date: 10/27/2006; and Important Questions & Answers because it contains information that does not apply to our new credit card program. Unfortunately the Trust Company’s process of transferring their card business to Elan is an automated one that cannot distinguish between business and personal cards, resulting in Ithaca College cardholders receiving the letter from Tompkins/Elan that does not apply to us. All information relevant to Ithaca College credit card program will come from the Accounts Payable and Travel Service Office.

At this time I would like to clarify how the payment for the new credit card program will be handled. The Accounts Payable Office will receive one invoice from Elan Financial Services which covers all card activity for the cardholders during the billing cycle. Accounts Payable will pay this invoice. Under no circumstance should a cardholder pay Elan Financial Services for their credit card bill. Cardholders will continue to receive a monthly cardholder statement for reconciliation purposes.

Employees and Departments that currently have Ithaca College Visa credit cards should receive their new Tompkins Visa Business card by Thursday, October 26, 2006. If you do not receive your new card by that date, please contact Ann Martin in the Accounts Payable Office. Employees traveling on college business during the transition period should contact Tami Hastings so arrangements can be made to make sure they have a way to pay for their expenses while traveling. When you receive your new credit card you can activate and start using it immediately. Our current cards will be inactive as of Friday, October 27, 2006.

Cardholders should start thinking about recurring automatic vendor payments they may have on their current Visa credit cards. When you receive your new card you will need to inform these businesses of the new account number to be charged for these payments.

The link for the new Visa credit card program will be available on the Ithaca College Accounts Payable and Travel Services website shortly. Please continue to email questions you have regarding our new card program to Ann Martin at mmartin@ithaca.edu. It is difficult to answer question(s) about the new credit card program through Intercom because answers to those questions can be specific to departments.
