Due to unanticipated difficulties with staffing between 11 PM and 7 AM the Hammond Health Center will have to close each night for the remainder of the current fall semester.

During this temporary staffing shortage Health Center hours will be 7 AM to 11 PM seven days a week.

We have implemented an on-call system to handle urgent problems that may arise in the middle of the night, when the center would have previously been open. A Registered Nurse will be available by phone after 11 PM every night to address medical concerns that cannot wait until morning. A health center Physician or Physician Assistant will be available to consult with the on-call nurse, as always.

If you have a medical problem at night, between 11 PM and 7 AM, call the Health Center at 274-3177. You will be put in contact with an answering service that will collect essential information and a nurse will call you back. As always, if you have a serious or life-threatening emergency on campus contact the Office of Public Safety at 274-3333. Off campus, dial 911.

We anticipate this situation to be temporary, and we will update you when we know more. We apologize for the inconvenience, and appreciate the campus community’s understanding.
