Associate Professor Katharyn Howd Machan, Writing Department, received Honorable Mention, and Paul Hamill, Director of Academic Funding, was named one of ten finalists, for the annual Ann Stanford Poetry Prize.

The national competition, sponsored by the University of Southern California, drew 400 entrants. Machan's entry was the poem "Why I Perform"; Hamill's was titled "Heron Tree." Machan is a former first prize winner of the competition.
