Asma Barlas, professor of Politics and director of CSCRE, was invited by the Association of Muslim
Social Scientists to give the keynote address at their annual conference on Islam: Tradition and
Modernity, on Nov. 4th in Toronto.

In October, she presented a paper on The Pleasure of our Texts
at the "Women in Religion in the 21st Century" conference organized by the Interchurch Center in New York City.

Barlas' article, "Qur'anic Hermeneutics and Sexual Politics," was published in the Cardozo Law Review's October 2006 issue. The CLR is published by Yeshiva University.
