Introducing "Kulmusik"

Contributed by Erik Kibelsbeck on 11/10/06

The ensemble previously known as the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble has a new director and a new name. Sally Lamb, a member of the composition faculty, will be directing "Kulmusik" in a free concert on Tuesday, November 14 at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall.

The ensemble combines faculty and students performing recently composed music. In this performance, faculty conductor Jeffery Meyer will lead a student chamber group in "Neon" by Tansy Davies, faculty soprano Patrice Pastore will sing a work of Elizabeth Lutyens, and six marimbists, including faculty member Gordon Stout, will perform Jennifer Higdon's "Splendid Wood." The balance of the program is led by Lamb and also involves a combination of faculty and students: "Zaka" by Jennifer Higdon, and Louis Andiressen's "Worker's Union." The final work will involve visual images as well as the music.
