Asma Barlas, Director of CSCRE and professor of Politics, made two presentations in the Netherlands over Thanksgiving. The first was at the invitation of the Philosophy Department of the University of Amsterdam on "Women's Self-Emancipation Through the Qur'an," at the de Balie Cultural Center on November 21st. The second, "Does the Qur'an Support Gender Equality?" was given at the University of Groningen on November 23rd. This was a keynote address for the workshop on "Islam and Autonomy" organized by the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies.
