Physics professor helps guide future US astronomical observatoriesContributed by Susanna Stumpe on 12/01/06 Assistant professor of physics, Luke Keller, is among eighty scientists invited to a recent workshop sponsored by the National Optical Astronomy Observatories (NOAO). NOAO administers the nation's ground-based astronomical observatories, including several of the largest telescopes on Earth. Keller participated in the workshop to help with plans for instrumentation and telescopes that will enable observations in infrared light. Such measurements will aid astronomers in determining the physical characteristics of objects ranging from solar system bodies to the most distant galaxies in the universe. |
