Recognizing and responding to a student in distress can be alarming. Knowing what to do, who can help and when to refer can lessen any apprehensions you might experience.

LeBron Rankins, an IC Counseling Center staff psychologist, will lead four discussion sessions this semester, for faculty and staff, addressing warning signs of distress, intervention strategies and referral sources inside and outside the IC community.

The discussion sessions will take place in the Counseling Center’s group room located on the lower level of Hammond Health Center. The entrance to the Counseling Center can be accessed by descending the stairs on the west side of the building or entering the Health Center’s main entrance and taking the elevator to the basement level.

The session dates and times are:
Tuesday, February 13; 9:00-10:30
Monday, March 5; 2:00-3:15
Tuesday, April 10, 4:00-5:30
Friday, May 4; 1:00-2:30

Contact LeBron Rankins at lrankins@ithaca.edu for more information or to indicate your intention to attend one of the sessions.

Note:
A Counselor-On-Call remains available to you independent of these sessions for consultation. If you have a concern about a student and want to consult with a member of the Counseling Center’s professional staff, call the Counseling Center at 607-274-3136.
