The Tower Club Restaurant and the Ithaca College Theatre Department invite you to join them for lunch and preview the annual opera collaboration between the Ithaca College School of Music and Theatre Department. On Wednesday, February 14th and Friday, February 16th, cast members of “Acis and Galatea” will perform love songs from the famous Handel opera at noon in the Tower Club Restaurant.
“Acis and Galatea” focuses its attention on Galatea, a semi-divine nymph, and her love for the shepherd Acis. The two pursue one another, and finally become lovers. The lovers are soon warned by the chorus of the jealous monster Polyphemus, who loves Galatea. Galatea rejects Polyphemus as she and Acis have sworn eternal love. Furious, Polyphemus kills Acis and Galatea becomes distraught and grief stricken, her tears flooding the world. Reminded by her attendants that she is divine, Galatea uses her power to transform Acis into a river, making him immortal.
The Tower Club Restaurant and the Ithaca College Theatre Department also invite you to join them for their dinner-theatre package. This package is only $35.00 per person, including a buffet style dinner and tickets to the 8:00pm performance of “Acis and Galatea” on Saturday, February 24th. Conveniently located on the Ithaca College campus, this package promises to be an experience above all the rest. To make your reservation, please call the Tower Club Restaurant at (607) 274-3393.
