Contributed by David Maley on 02/13/07

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident of a firearm being discharged at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 11, in the 100 block of Kendall Avenue in Ithaca.

The investigation has indicated that a single round from an unknown firearm entered near a bedroom window of a residence, caused damage to the inside wall, and then became lodged in the resident’s mattress.

It appears that the firearm may have been discharged from the area of a large party which was in progress nearby at the same time. Other residents in the area reported hearing gunshots or similar noises between 1:00 and 1:45 a.m. on this same date.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit at 257-1345.
