The School of Humanities and Sciences is pleased to announce the Spring 2007 Ithaca Fund Awards. More than 20 applications were received from a variety of departments and programs to support educational opportunities for H&S students; approximately 73% of these proposals were funded in whole or part.
A total of $13,195 was distributed to support projects including:
•students from English, Psychology, Sociology, and Speech Communications presenting papers and posters based on their original research at academic conferences;
•faculty/student collaborations in Chemistry, Biology, and Art;
•support for visiting scholars and artists, including: a visiting playwright from India (Prof. Anjali Nerlekar, English), authors of an influential book on third wave feminism (IC Feminists), an expert on Andean archaeology (Prof. Michael Malpass, Anthropology), and an alumna whose work focuses on science journalism, environmental ethics, and environmental history (Prof. John Confer, Biology).

All told, during the academic year 2006-2007, the H&S Ithaca Fund disbursed a total of $30,861 to support a wide range of projects that enhance student learning and educational opportunities. The School of Humanities and Sciences is grateful to the many alumni and donors who made these awards possible.
The next deadline for Ithaca Fund proposals, for projects taking place in the 2007-2008 academic year, will be in September.
