Student and staff delegates from the Ithaca College Residence Hall Association recently traveled to Roger Williams University in Rhode Island to attend the North East Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (NEACURH) conference. The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is a group of IC students dedicated to improving the quality of life for on-campus residents.
The delegation spent two days interacting with delegations from all around the Northeast, having friendly competitions, presenting programs, sharing ideas, voting in the boardroom, and awarding recognition in various categories.
The conference culminated in an awards ceremony. Ithaca College kicked off the night by winning in the "most spirited school" category.
Brianne Lewis won the Regional Board of Directors honor for outstanding national communications coordinator, as well as a NEACURH Pride Pin.
Tristan Fowler, delegate, and Andrew Bernier, president, created a presentation designed to teach students about sustainability, which was selected as one of the top 10 programs presented at the conference. The presentation is now a contender for recognition at the national level.
Lastly, residence director Drew Hatton, who is ending his third year advising the RHA, won for adviser of the year. He is now a contender for recognition at the national level.
The delegation consisted of: Brianne Lewis, Rachel Bertram, Katie Parrotte, Wendy Horning, Tristan Fowler, Cole Lechleiter, Andrew Bernier, Michael Schimley, and advisers Jessica Blasko and Drew Hatton.
The RHA is excited to be sending a delegation to the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) conference, to be held in June in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
