As you are aware, prior to spring break it was necessary to shut off the on-line housing selection system down due to difficulties students were experiencing when trying to select housing.
As we indicated in our message to you on March 1st, we worked over the break to identify what was causing the problems, fix those issues, and complete additional testing to verify these changes impacted the system in the way that was intended. After completing multiple tests, we believe that the system is ready for use.
We have developed a new time line for the remainder of the housing selection process. This new time line is as follows:
Tuesday, March 20th – System opens for students to view available housing
Wednesday, March 21st, 7am until Thursday, March 22nd, 11:59pm – Students with 5+ semesters can select housing
Monday, March 26th, 7am until Tuesday, March 27th, 11:59pm – Students with 3+ semesters can select housing
Thursday, March 29th, 7am until Friday, March 30th, 11:59pm – Students with 0+ semesters can select housing
Monday, April 16th – System reopens for students to change rooms until the middle of August
There have been a number of individuals who have been devoted to this project to make it a success. However, even with the extensive testing there is no way to guarantee that we will not experience additional difficulties with the system. If at any time we identify problems that compromise the integrity of the housing selection process, we will need to shut off the system. If this occurs, an email will be sent to students with specific information regarding how and when a modified housing selection process will occur.
We would also like to provide you with a few additional hints and tips to assist in navigating the system and retrieving the most accurate information. Please read this information carefully as you plan your strategies for housing selection.
1. Log into only one internet browser on your computer.
2. Log into only one computer.
3. We recommend that you use only Firefox or Internet Explorer for your internet browser.
4. Use the links provided on the screens to move through the system – do not use the Back button.
5. The Refresh button should not be used as it will force you to log in again and start over from the beginning.
6. When forming your group, you must wait for the student’s information to appear next to their Housing ID before entering the next group member’s Housing ID.
7. The room or apartment you select is not officially yours until you receive the confirmation page. Please print this page for your records.
