Psychology department chair Barney Beins gave two invited presentations at the Southeastern Conference on the Teaching of Psychology in Atlanta.

One presentation, "Answering Questions and Generating Discussion with Data in Research Methods," focused on teaching critical thinking in the context of asking research questions.

The second presentation, "Stuttering: A Compelling Example of Ethics, Theory, Research, and Society," involved the intersection of social and scientific elements in research. The focus related to the idea that research does not occur in a social vacuum and that knowing about the researchers, the social norms of the time, and their theories helps understand why researchers perform their studies as they do and interpret the results the way they do.
