David Lebow, executive vice president and general manager of AOL Media Networks and 1983 graduate of Ithaca College’s Roy H. Park School of Communications will speak as part of Sigma Iota Epsilon’s Distinguished Management Speaker Series.

Mr. Lebow’s talk, “Effective Leadership: Managing for Results,” will be held on Thursday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Emerson Suites. This program is free and open to the public.

David Lebow is responsible for several areas in AOL’s growing advertising, search and media business. These include Mapquest Inc, AOL’s Local strategy (including City Guide and local search) and the AOL e-commerce Marketplace, consisting of the Shopping, Travel, Real Estate, Careers, Personals and Autos consumer experiences and businesses.

Mapquest, the worlds leading Maps and Directions site, has achieved unparalleled growth in the past 18 months in the face of significant competition. Mapquest now reaches 53 million monthly users, up from 41 million a year ago. Mapquest captures a 70% market share and its users consume 1.3 billion page views a month, having doubled. AOL’s Local Group consists of consumer experiences and business oversight for all local products and services across AOL's Network including Local Search, CityGuide and Yellow Pages.

Through previous oversight of Advertising Operations, Mr. Lebow successfully implemented Double-click, the largest advertising technology transformation ever at AOL. This role included all aspects of pricing, inventory management and delivery. Mr. Lebow was also instrumental in bringing AOL.com to the web as a free service.

Previous to AOL, Mr. Lebow held several leadership positions in the radio broadcasting industry from 1983 to 2000. These included oversight of the Western half of the United States as SVP of AMFM and COO Chancellor Media’s office of Product and Strategy. His own company, Rating Point Management developed software allowing for breakthroughs for using research to drive ratings and revenue for broadcasters. This company was sold to Evergreen Media (AMFM) in 1997.

In addition to his public Lecture, Mr. Lebow will moderate several interactive sessions with students on Friday, April 6. Information on these sessions is available by request; please contact sie@ithaca.edu for details.

This event is sponsored by Sigma Iota Epsilon and the School of Business.
