Do you forward your Ithaca College email account to an AOL account? If so, read this!
Whenever an AOL user clicks "Report this message as spam" with regard to a message from an Ithaca College server, the ITS email administrator receives a copy of the message and a "Terms of Service Violation" report.
We've recently been getting notified of violations for what appear to be completely legitimate emails.
It seems that the AOL "delete" button and the "report this as spam" button are very close in the AOL interface, and users are hitting the Spam button by mistake. As a result, several unintended messages per day land in the email administrator's mailbox as "spam" originating from Ithaca College.
If you forward your IC mail to AOL, please be careful to not hit the spam button by mistake. Also, please do not report as spam legitimate mailing list traffic from Ithaca College mailing lists. If you don't want to receive mailing list messages, please unsubscribe from the list instead.
Thanks,
ITS Email Administrator
