FLEFF Was Quite the Success

Contributed by Jodi Cohen on 04/02/07

Professors Patty Zimmermann and Tom Shevory did a great job developing and promoting the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival (FLEFF).

The films and the discussions were outstanding. I know there was much more to the festival -- including short courses, music, art, and performance. Although I focused on films, there was something at the festival for everyone, even kids.

Patty and Tom have made FLEFF an exciting event for Ithaca College, Ithaca, and the surrounding communities. I suspect word is out and next year we will see even more people coming from faraway places to join us at the weeklong festival. Thanks! FLEFF is one of the reasons Ithaca is a great place to live, work, and go to college.

FLEFF WAS QUITE THE SUCCESS Comment from mgarland on 04/05/07
Here, Here! I completely agree! The opportunity to participate in the festival is always a highlight of my academic year. I was invited to share my classroom(s) to screen five films, and all five were intriguing, thought-provoking, and challenging. If not for the festival, neither I nor the students in these classes would have had access to these amazing works. FLEFF is truly a model for providing innovative learning opportunities alongside important service to the community. Bravo to Ithaca College for supporting FLEFF, and bravo to to the festival co-directors!
