Joyful memories of friends, family and loved ones who have taken their lives by suicide can simultaneously coexist with the painful memories of those relationships, and yet opportunities to talk about those pleasant memories and our process of grief are few.

What we know is that suicide has touched many of our lives, either through our own experience of attempted suicide or the loss of someone we knew, perhaps even loved, to suicide. Therefore, an opportunity to gather together with others who have lost someone to suicide and understand the myriad of emotions that occur after such an event has been planned – to celebrate joyful memories.

Join members of the Ithaca College community Wednesday evening at 7pm in Klingenstein Lounge for A Time to Remember: Stories of Remembrance. Those attending the program are encouraged to come prepared to share their own Story of Remembrance in story, poetry, picture, song or some other style.

While participation is not a requirement for attending this program, participation can be very helpful, emotionally, to you and others who will be present.

This will be the final program in this semester’s three-part series: Suicide Is Preventable!

If you are suicidal or know of someone who might be suicidal, help is available. Two resources are the Ithaca College Counseling Center (607-274-3136) and the local Suicide Prevention and Crisis Service 24hr Crisisline (607-272-1616)
