Psychologist Mark Frank of the University of Buffalo will deliver a free, public lecture on detection of human deception and hostile intent through the analysis of nonverbal cues.

The talk will take place on Tuesday, April 17 from 12:10 to 12:50 in Textor 102.

In his talk, "Cracking the Nonverbal Code: Detecting Deception in the Real World," Professor Frank will discuss his expertise in the interpretation of nonverbal communication tied to involuntary movements of the 44 muscles in the human face and how they reflect fear, distrust, distress and other emotions related to deception.

He will also relate progress in this area associated with some of the latest technology and information-mining approaches.

The talk, which is free an open to the public, is sponsored by the psychology department, the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies, and the Office of the Provost.
