Internet Scam Alert

Contributed by Robert Holt on 04/13/07

Several complaints of Internet scams have been received by the Cornell Police.

The Cornell University Police has made it known to their campus community that there have been several complaints of Internet scams resulting in the loss of money to the victims.

The Ithaca College Office of Public Safety suggest that caution should be taken if you receive an e-mail message involving the request for money or your assistance in a deal from which you would receive money or anything of value. Some of these scams are convoluted in nature but all promise a fee being paid to the victim.

As the saying goes, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

If you think you are being scammed, please report the incident to the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety, 274-3333.
