The Ithaca College Web Marketing Team is happy to announce that we will be releasing two exciting new features for the Web Profile Manager this week.

The news module allows site managers to create dynamic news sections in their profiles in three major ways:

  • by adding new stories of their own
  • by drawing on College news sources such as Intercom, media relations news releases, or the alumni magazine
  • by pulling in stories that other site managers have created

In addition, each site manager may choose to automate the news selection process from existing news sources.

The blogs feature allows site managers to post content to their site using this popular Web 2.0 technology. They may allow single or multiple people to post to the same blog, and they can delegate posting access to anyone on campus.

The news and blogs features will be released in the Web Profile Manager some time this week. All PCMs and delegates in the system will receive an e-mail announcement when the features are live and ready to use.

In order to facilitate best practices of these new features, we’ll be presenting two workshops for demonstrating the features and answering your questions about them. The presentations are scheduled for

  • Tuesday, April 24, 2007, in Textor 101, 12:10 – 1:05 p.m.
  • Friday, April 27, 2007, in Textor 101, 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.

The presentations are open to anyone using Web Profile Manager. Please plan to attend one of these sessions to learn how these new features can help you manage your site.

As always, your marketing communications managers are available to work with you one-on-one for any of your Web Profile Manager needs. Contact Laurie Ward (lward@ithaca.edu) or Heather Hedges (hhedges@ithaca.edu).
