As part of a nationwide celebration of the Campaign for Ithaca College: Making a World of Difference, you are cordially invited to a cocktail reception to be held Thursday, May 10, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Museum of the Earth.
Baruch Whitehead, associate professor of music education and an expert on West African drumming and dance, will lead an interactive demonstration of West African rhythm patterns on the djembe, a large, goblet-shaped hand drum. Come be part of the drum circle—a traditional social gathering in most African villages—and help Ithaca College drum up support for the campaign.
This event is one of 50 regional campaign events being held at venues around the country over the course of 500 days. Past events have been held at locations such as the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Gotham Hall in New York City, the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, the Australian embassy in Washington, D.C., Fort Mason in San Francisco, and the Dugout Club at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
If you would like to attend the May 10 event, please RSVP by Thursday, May 3, at www.ithaca.edu/ontheroad/fingerlakes or by calling Brenda Carlisle at 4-1381. Space is limited, and business attire is appropriate. If you have special needs, please call Brenda or e-mail her at campaign@ithaca.edu.
