Andrew Getzin, M.D., the head team physician at Ithaca College, has been selected by both the USA Triathlon and by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to provide medical coverage this summer.
Dr. Getzin will be working as the head team physician for the USA Triathlon team in Gyor, Hungary, for the Short Course Duathlon World Championship from May 15 to May 20. This assignment entails providing the daily medical needs of the triathletes as well as race day medical support. He previously provided care for the USA Triathlon team for the Long Course World Championship in Denmark in August 2005.
He will also spend two-and-a-half weeks in June at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, working as a physician for the USOC. Teams expected to be present during Dr. Getzin’s assignment include cycling and paralympic cycling, weightlifting, wrestling, shooting, gymnastics, fencing, judo and paralympic judo, triathlon, volleyball, swimming and paralympic swimming, synchronized swimming, modern pentathlon, archery, and basketball. During his stay at the USOC training center, Dr. Getzin will provide international medical coverage for all USA Olympic teams.
