It's here!, so we hope you're ready for another great Ithaca Festival Parade! We still need more volunteers to pull off this unique community event.
The Button Brigade will gather in DeWitt Park at 5:30 p.m. for our pre-parade meeting and begin selling around 6:00; the parade begins at 6:30. There will be a band in DeWitt Park, so some of our group will work the crowd in the park as Park Peddlers, while others work the parade crowd as the Button Brigade.
Announcing a new parade route: Since the parade can no longer cross Seneca Street, we looked at parade route options with the city and decided on a parade which travels along Cayuga Street from Lewis to Buffalo Streets, ending with a party in DeWitt Park. For more info please visit the Ithaca Festival's website.
The Button Brigade teams will be along Cayuga Street. Since it's a new route we're not sure exactly where crowds will be the largest, but we expect that the last block (along DeWitt Park and the old library) and near Cascadilla Creek (by Gimme! Coffee and Thompson Park) may be the most populated. Based on how many volunteers we have, our plan is to cover from DeWitt Park up to Marshall Street.
