John Confer presented a lecture June 8 in Syracuse at the second Environmental Studies Summit, entitled "Fifty Years of Environmental Conservation: What Went Right!!" The conference was hosted by Syracuse University and the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF).

Professor Confer also chaired a committee meeting of the New York Ornithological Association Committee about assessing wind power and its threats to wildlife in June at the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge.
