With the outta sight theme of the 60s as their backdrop, the members of this year's IC Hope team once again claimed the Top Fundraising Team award at this year's Relay For Life in Lansing. With $14,500 raised, IC Hope brought in nearly a full 10% of all Relay earnings...and that is with 75 teams present! But that's not all...
In its 3rd year as a challenge for all teams, the "Spirit Point" competition was won for the 3rd time by IC Hope, with the prize of a cruise on the MV Manhattan earned for their hard work. Setting an example of true sportsmanship and team spirit, the IC Hope members generously donated their prize to a team of Lansing high schoolers who were raising money in honor of one of their classmates...something the team decided to do before the Relay began! We hoped to inspire other teams by showing them that you can still have fun and go all our for a cause for the ultimate reward of simply knowing that you have made a difference!
As in past years, our team felt an obligation to spread the word about the College's mission of sustainability to the greater community. Displays on proper recycling were prominently displayed at our tent site to help educate the public in this all important cause.
Congratulations to the following Community members who were lucky winners of our raffle baskets: John Bradac, Terri Reyna, Tom Twist, and Steve and Shelly Yaple. Thanks to all who supported us with your ticket purchases!
IC Hope would not be nearly as successful without the help of our entire College Community. We thank each and every one of you who cheered us on, sponsored us, donated food, labor, and supplies, and encouraged us. Together we have all made a difference in fighting cancer!
