In compliance with section 504, class materials must be made available in alternate format.

Alternate formats include audio versions of written documents, documents in braille, enlarged print and documents in electronic format. If a student in your class has identified him/herself to the college and has a substantial need for materials in alternate format, you will be notified by Academic Support Services via the student's academic adjustment plan. At that time, someone from the office will meet with you to discuss lead time and how to prepare documents (e.g. class handouts, syllabus, tests, etc.) for conversion into alternate format. Also, many text books are available on tape or CD; however, texts published by the smaller publishing companies must be scanned and converted. Therefore, it is a great help if faculty compile reading lists as early as possible.
