The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies and the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies will be offering a weekend seminar in Morenian Action Methods (RLS 23900, 1 credit) which includes: Psychodrama, Sociodrama and Playback Theatre. The course will be held the weekend of September 14-16, 2007.
Program Description:
Morenian Action Methods are utilized to enhance participants' self esteem, interpersonal communication skills, and their ability to interact as positive group members. This experiential, one-credit weekend seminar will introduce students to J. L. Morreno's role theory as used in rehabilitation and counseling settings. Students will have the opportunity to explore their own stories and issues as well as learn strategies for applying these theories in structured, client-based intervention programs.
Lecturer:
Jari Aho is the coordinator of the therapeutic recreation and international programs at HAMK University of Applied Sciences in Hameenlinna, Finland. Ithaca students can continue their studies in Finland during May 2008. Aho holds a master's in psychology and bachelor of arts in teacher education from the University of Tampere; Action Methods Instructor from Finnish Association of Psychodrama; Work Counselor and Clinical Supervisor from Satakunta University of Applied Sciences and Playback Theatre Leadership Class from School of Playback Theatre, NY.
