A team from Ithaca College continues to work with architects Moody-Nolan on the final design of the new athletics and events center. We hope to break ground in early 2008.
The fund-raising goal for the A&E center is $20 million, and I am pleased to report that we have just surpassed the $14 million mark. The total raised includes a key $4 million matching challenge from the Atlantic Philanthropies. Thanks to the challenge, every dollar contributed by faculty and staff (as well as alumni, parents, and friends) is actually worth two dollars for the project.
If you'd like to see the center's new design or learn about the facilities scheduled to be included in the initial construction phase, updated information and revised renderings are available on the A&E center’s website, www.ithaca.edu/aecenter. The site also includes a new computer-generated fly-through of what the center will look like from different angles.
As one of the lead priorities of the Campaign for Ithaca College, the athletics and events center will not only provide our student-athletes with the facilities they need to succeed, it will also serve as the largest indoor venue on campus for both Collegewide and community events.
