"I have known and admired and respected Saint Michael's College for over 30 years now," said Williams. "I know alumni, faculty and staff of this college and am honored to become associated with an academic institution of such fine quality. I'm particularly pleased with the Vermont connection."

Prior to being named president of Ithaca College, Williams had served as president of Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont, from 1989 to 1997. She had previously held a variety of academic and administrative positions at Trinity College in Burlington and within the Vermont State Colleges system. She earned her master's degree in higher education administration and planning from the University of Vermont

Founded in 1904 by the Society of St. Edmund, Saint Michael's College is a Catholic liberal arts institution serving some 2,000 full-time undergraduate students and 500 graduate students.
