As a part of the Student Leadership Institute, Traevena Byrd will present a free session entitled "I Can't Believe I Just Said That! -- Culturally Competent Communication" on Monday, September 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Clark Lounge.

Effective communication is a critical component of any successful organization. The United States is one of the most culturally diverse countries on the planet and the increasing globalization of commerce, politics, and educational systems means that leaders of the future need to communicate well with people from different backgrounds.

This session will introduce general topics of culturally competent communication and provide students with guidance for self-improvement. This session earns credit for the "Leadership in a Diverse World" Certificate.

The Student Leadership Institute is an ongoing series of free workshop sessions designed around topics in leadership and is intended for all Ithaca College students.
