As a part of the Student Leadership Institute, Lis Maurer will present a free session, entitled "Dancing on Slippery Floors: Leading in the Age of Chaos," on Tuesday, November 6, 12:10–1:05 p.m. in the Clark Lounge.

Chaos theory isn't just for physicists anymore! As culture shifts from a mechanical/hierarchical paradigm to the emerging paradigm of chaos, what implications does it have for leadership? Explore effective strategies for living and working in turbulence. Learn ways to cultivate a sense of optimism in uncertainty, discover the underlying order in apparently random events, and co-create the future.

The outcomes for the session are:
• Increase knowledge of the science of chaos and its implications in leadership and communication.
• Increase knowledge of strategies for leading in the age of chaos.
• Increase understanding of the impact of working/planning using the old mechanical paradigm, in a time of paradigm shift (i.e. stress!)

This session earns credit for the "Leading Others" Certificate.

The Student Leadership Institute is an ongoing series of free workshop sessions designed around topics in leadership and is intended for all Ithaca College students.
