Many students would love to take a spur-of-the-moment road trip with their friends, but lack the money, means and time to do it.

Now, a new resident dining promotion called Stirrup the Excitement in Texas will solve their travel dilemmas. Hosted by Campus Dining Services at Ithaca College, the promotion will transport students to Austin, Texas, where they will enjoy a big, bold, Texas-style bash to kick off the school year. Stirrup the Excitement in Texas will be held during dinner on Tuesday, September 18, in the Terrace Dining Hall. This is the first promotion in a series called the Great American Road Trip, a monthly progression of events that takes students to various travel destinations throughout the United States.

Stirrup the Excitement in Texas will feature country music, outdoor activities, prizes, and, of course, some authentic Texas-style cuisine. A brand new element of the event is the introduction of a series of collectible posters that students will have the opportunity to win throughout the promotion.

Highlighted in this Texas tribute is a singing/songwriting challenge, where students can try their hand at their music and lyric skills. This contest will be a great way to reveal some of the hidden talent on campus, and students will have the chance to win some fabulous prizes too. There will also be a cow-milking contest!

"Stirrup the Excitement in Texas is our first resident dining promotion of the year, and we're eager to throw a bash in true Texas style to get our customers excited," stated Julie Whitten, dining services marketing manager. "Through our Great American Road Trip Series, we hope to treat our students to flavors that are unique to our featured destinations from across the United States."
