The Adult Occupational Therapy Clinic is open and now taking new patients.

Do you need occupational therapy?
Do your hands or fingers tingle when you wake up?
Do you have pain in your elbows or wrists after working on the computer?

Occupational therapists are health and rehabilitation professionals who work with people of all ages who may benefit from therapeutic intervention in areas of physical, developmental, social, and/or emotional problems necessary to lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives.

Occupational therapy can help improve function in daily life with:

  • Activities of daily living
  • Strength and endurance
  • Coordination
  • Cognitive retraining
  • Adaptations in all areas of self-care to facilitate independence

Diagnoses seen in the occupational therapy adult clinic:

  • Work- and leisure-related injuries (such as carpal tunnel syndrome or tendonitis)
  • Neurological dysfunction
  • Orthopedic injuries (such as upper extremity fractures or musculoskeletal injuries)
  • Stroke

Problems in any of the above areas may result in difficulty doing the things that are necessary and important in your life, such as: activities of daily living, aspects of your job, caring for loved ones, and enjoying your leisure time.

The occupational and physical therapy clinic offer services to adults of the IC community, including students, faculty, staff, and immediate family members of faculty and staff. Patients are treated by a student-faculty combination in a dynamic learning and educational setting.
