On Thursday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. in Friends Hall Room 207, three representatives from Connect Ithaca -- Joan Bokaer, Rob Morache and Jacob Roberts -- will take you along on a trip into their imagination as they create a new vision for Ithaca as an "ecocity."

What is an ecocity? Ecocites are vibrant, thriving communities in which we rebuild our human habitat in balance with living systems, where we slow down and even reverse global warming, biodiversity collapse, loss of wilderness habitat, agricultural lands, and open space, and where we empower our citizens to confront social and environmental injustices.

Joan Bokaer, co-founder of Ecovillage at Ithaca, was the co-convener of Ecocity 3 in Yoff, Senegal, in 1996. To learn more about the global Ecocity movement, visit: http://www.ecocitybuilders.org/

This special evening Sustainability Café is co-sponsored by the "Exploring Global Challenges" Ithaca seminar and the Sustainably Conscious Living Community.
